The Dreamer’s Tribune: Devin Clancy reflects on reaching 200 ABs

The sun has gone down, the lights are on, the pitcher releases the ball and SMACK!!! 200 at-bats.

Wow, what a time. 200 at-bats means *at least* 200 pitches from amazing players, and nearly 200 catches and outs ; )

I couldn’t have made this milestone without all you dreamers. So, as the great sex-rock icons Aerosmith say:

Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away

Dream until your dreams come true

June 30th 2019 – Pride Games

DO YOU BELIEVE IN LIFE AFTER BALL?

On a bright and sunny Sunday that radiated the sunshine of Tyler Chartrand’s yellow Pride uni-colored t-shirt, the queers, the base prancers, the sign stealers, the skirt sliders, the baseball crybabies, the girlie throwers, the dyke sluggers, the come-from-behinders (thanks Sena!), and those who prefer to be dugout gathered on the SkyDome field decked out in glitter, unicorns, and a glowing sign that announced the purpose of those who assembled. It exclaimed: “Let’s Queer Baseball!” and that is exactly what happened on this final day of June!

In a rain-out re-match, the Rouge River Raccoons would try to dig themselves out of the dumpster against the Garrison Creek Glimmer, while the sparkles and shines from Garrison vied to turn their lone star into a constellation with a 2nd consecutive victory. Meanwhile, in the evening re-matchup, the Don River Don of the Dead were planning an afterlife party should they be able to wade through the thick fog of the feisty Humber River Haze.

RED TAILED HAWK’S GAME OF THE WEEK

A week after the Field of Dreamers were visited by the pink moon, the great red-tailed hawk appeared to watch two spirited games perched atop a tree next to SkyDome. And when we say Red-Tailed Hawk, we aren’t referring to our very own Giibwanisi, who was not in his team’s lineup for this particular affair!

Would the Trash Pandas rustle up some glamour to outshine the Glimmer or would Garrison scare of the Raccoons with their beams of light? Would the Don River Don of the Dead shake open Humber’s slumber or would the Haze be the one’s to put the Zombies to sleep?

If you wanna know the results…

PINK MOON NIGHT AT THE DIAMOND

Our grandmother moon radiated a deep pink as she snuck around the CN Tower to catch a glimpse of SkyDome and the Dreamers who were twinkling around the bases of Trinity Bellwoods Park. It was a perfect evening for baseball and the squads who came to the park were filled with pep, sass, and post-Raptors victory euphoria.

Would the Don River Don of the Dead have the Rouge River Raccoons humming “with their tanks and their bombs and their bombs and their bombs…in your head, in your head they’re still fighting….” or would the cunning Trash Pandas be miming the iconic words of Jack Armstrong…”get that cabbaage outta here!”?

Would the Humber River Haze show Credit River what its like to be on top of a Los Angeles freeway or would the feisty Care Bears leave their tenderhearts on the diamond?

SUMMER HEAT & COLD SWEATS

The first truly warm June evening welcomed the Dreamers to the field for Week 6 of the season! A beautiful evening at SkyDome had spirits as high as 70% of the Trinity Bellwoods crowd. A cool breeze made for some excellent baseball weather and it meant for two high scoring affairs!

Would the Humber River Haze continue to shroud their undefeated streak in mystery or would the Rouge River Raccoons find an opening to the Humber green bin? Would the Garrison Creek Glimmer sparkle towards their first victory of the season or would the Credit River Care Bears’ stare be too intense?

If you wanna know the results…
