SHOWERS DON’T DAMPEN FIELD OF DREAMERS

A massive rain storm passed through Trinity Bellwoods park only 2 hours before game time. A scurrying of dreamers scouted the field, made some emails, and finally the decision to go forward was made. It was a glorious decision as the rain gave breath to a perfect evening of ball.

In the first game of the evening, it was the Garrison Creek Glimmer trying to outshine the Don River Don of the Dead. The Dead, as usual, were really just out for brains and saw Garrison as a prime culinary candidate. In the second game, the Credit River Care Bears were trying to play the hero to the villainous bandits of Rouge. But the Rouge River Raccoons were out to show that Trash Pandas might have a bad rep, but they sure can clang around on the ball field.

A CIVIC BALL-IDAY BAT AROUND

In the midst of the long-weekend, Trinity Bellwoods was packed with lazy weekend warriors, park pups, and a people’s flea market. The day eased into evening and the Field of Dreamers descended on the Sky Dome all hopeful to inject some glory into their civic holiday. Would the Rouge River Raccoons scurry all over the flickers of hope gleaming off the Garrison Creek Glimmer? Would Don of the Dead prove that the Zombies fear no fog, as they persevere through the Humber River Haze?

July 28th 2019

THE DOG DAYS ARE HERE

As July gave way to the season’s final stretch, the Field of Dreamers populated SkyDome with a nostalgic wistfulness for the pennant race to come. So far this season, the Rouge River Raccoons have scavenged through trash bins and have run off with wins at an unprecedented pace. The Credit River Care Bears and Humber River Haze have ridden a vapour wave of mellowness and weathered some ups and downs. While the Garrison Creek Glimmer and the Don River Don of the Dead are showing some twinkling and life despite starting the season in a bit of a deficit.

So it was no surprise that the early match would see the Humber River Haze trying to smoke out the cubbies and even their records, while the Care Bears looked to care so dang much that a win would magically befall upon them. While in the evening match, the Trash Pandas needed to be wary of the night of the Living Dead and the Don River Don of the Dead needed to be cautious of the nocturnal Raccoons and their equally insatiable appetite.

July 21st 2019

AFTER THE GREAT HEAT WAVE

Trinity Bellwoods Park turned in to a splendid environment for Sunday’s ritual of play. After a week filled with heat and muggy muggy nights, a small break provided the perfect atmosphere for a dreamy Dreamer evening under the … uh … flickering bulbs remaining in the flood lamps above.

In the early match, the Humber River Haze were trying to increase the smog index on the Rouge River Raccoons, while the Trash Pandas sought to take advantage of the hot nights to stock up wins for the fall. In the evening match, the Garrison Creek Glimmer were trying to orbit around the .500 mark while the Credit River Care Bears vied to push the caring meter up to 5 by claiming their 5th win of the season!
