THE DOG DAYS ARE HERE

As July gave way to the season’s final stretch, the Field of Dreamers populated SkyDome with a nostalgic wistfulness for the pennant race to come. So far this season, the Rouge River Raccoons have scavenged through trash bins and have run off with wins at an unprecedented pace. The Credit River Care Bears and Humber River Haze have ridden a vapour wave of mellowness and weathered some ups and downs. While the Garrison Creek Glimmer and the Don River Don of the Dead are showing some twinkling and life despite starting the season in a bit of a deficit.

So it was no surprise that the early match would see the Humber River Haze trying to smoke out the cubbies and even their records, while the Care Bears looked to care so dang much that a win would magically befall upon them. While in the evening match, the Trash Pandas needed to be wary of the night of the Living Dead and the Don River Don of the Dead needed to be cautious of the nocturnal Raccoons and their equally insatiable appetite.

AFTER THE GREAT HEAT WAVE

Trinity Bellwoods Park turned in to a splendid environment for Sunday’s ritual of play. After a week filled with heat and muggy muggy nights, a small break provided the perfect atmosphere for a dreamy Dreamer evening under the … uh … flickering bulbs remaining in the flood lamps above.

In the early match, the Humber River Haze were trying to increase the smog index on the Rouge River Raccoons, while the Trash Pandas sought to take advantage of the hot nights to stock up wins for the fall. In the evening match, the Garrison Creek Glimmer were trying to orbit around the .500 mark while the Credit River Care Bears vied to push the caring meter up to 5 by claiming their 5th win of the season!

On a sticky July Sunday, the Dreamers gathered under a waxing moon in Sagittarius with an optimistic outlook and a hope that the balls would be thrown in their favour that night, 3 of our rivers and one little creek converged at the Trinity Bellwoods Sky-Dome.

Would the Undead Don River run down the Garrison Glimmer with an apocalyptic outbreak of hits and runs? Would the signature Credit River Care Bear Stare give the Rouge Racoons a serious scare?
